Our Wedding Welcome Party
Our wedding weekend began with a welcome party that was nothing short of incredible. Friends and family from around the world came together, filling the evening with contagious laughter, heartfelt conversations, and unforgettable memories. From the delicious food to the beautiful setting, every detail felt like a warm hug from the universe, wrapping us in love and joy as we kicked off the celebration of a lifetime.
location
All of our guests were staying at the Hilton Cancun, where our reception also was, so our welcome party venue was a restaurant at the hotel. It was at the Sunan, a beautiful beachfront sushi restaurant that we took over.
The Hilton Cancun is a brand new property that just opened in November 2021. Itβs got very modern, mid-century vibes that arenβt always present in Mexico. The architecture is sleek, minimal with lots of clean lines. Itβs also 15 minutes from the airport making it super easy for our guests who are traveling from all over the globe.
guests
We had a total of 225 guests attend the wedding. There is truly no better feeling than having all of your loved ones in one place celebrating together.
Personal touches
It was super important to Brian and I to personalize our wedding weekend and we wanted to make sure it reflected who we are as a couple. We also wanted to honor Brianβs dad who passed and my best friend who passed six years ago to suicide. To do this, we had a cigar and whiskey bar at our welcome party to honor Brians dad, complete with his favorite cocktail, the Rob Roy. Cigar and whiskey bars were two of Brianβs dads favorite things, so we knew we had to include that.
Our food at the welcome party was a sushi forward menu, which is our favorite, as well as fresh churros and personalized fresh coconuts named after our nephew and ring bearer, Taytum. Taytum and I have a tradition of drinking fresh coconut juice together so that was truly such a special touch.
We are big music lovers so one thing I will advocate for over and over again is having a saxophone player on your special day. We hired an incredible saxophone player, Ariel Rossini, to join us at our welcome party and again on our wedding day. It genuinely created the most perfect atmosphere and experience for everyone.
I was also absolutely obsessed with my attire for the welcome party. I custom designed my feather frock with a seamstress and it turned out perfect.
